Support — Baseline Scoreboard

Baseline Scoreboard turns a tablet or phone into a basketball scoreboard with a game clock, shot clock, periods, fouls and timeouts. It works offline.

If something has gone wrong, include your device and OS version, the app version (at the foot of the Settings screen), and what you did just before it happened. A photo of the screen helps.

There is no account, so there is nothing to log in to or lose access to.

Running a game

The horn did not sound

Check these in order:

  1. The speaker button on the board. A muted board shows a crossed-out speaker.
  2. Settings → Sounds.
  3. The device's volume.

The horn plays even with an iPhone's silent switch on, so that it can be heard in a hall. Use the board's mute button to silence it.

I want a warning before the end of a period

Settings → Clock warnings adds a horn at one minute and at ten seconds. It is off by default.

I tapped the wrong thing

Tap UNDO. It steps back through anything the board recorded: a basket, a foul, a timeout, a clock start.

Hold UNDO to open the log and undo an earlier action without undoing everything after it. The log shows the last 15 actions. Baseline Pro shows the whole game.

The score is wrong and undo will not reach it

Long-press the score to open a keypad and type the correct total.

To take points off, long-press a +1 / +2 / +3 button to subtract that many. There is no minus button, because one next to the plus buttons gets pressed by accident.

We only played three quarters, or a period started by mistake

Tap the period pill at the top of the board, then hold the period you want. It needs a hold because UNDO cannot step back through a period jump.

The score is kept. Fouls and timeouts follow the rules for the period you land on.

The shot clock has gone blank

This is FIBA behaviour. When the game clock drops below the shot-clock value, the shot clock is switched off until the next period. If you would rather it never blanked, turn that off in the rule settings when you set up the game.

The shot clock will not start

A shot-clock reset never starts a stopped game clock. Start the game clock and the shot clock runs with it.

To run the shot clock on its own, for drills, turn on Settings → Advanced shot clock control. This adds a button for it.

The screen keeps going to sleep

The app keeps the screen awake while a board or drill timer is open. If it still sleeps, a battery saver or device management profile may be overriding it. Please get in touch if that isn't the cause.

The app closed in the middle of a game

Open the app and the game is offered back to you on the home screen where it was. The time the app was closed is not taken off the clock.

Casting to a television

How do I put the scoreboard on a big screen?

Connect a display with an HDMI adapter, or use AirPlay to an Apple TV or an AirPlay television. The spectator board appears on it automatically, and your device keeps the controls.

Casting is a Baseline Pro feature. Without Baseline Pro, a connected screen shows a Baseline card instead of the board.

Can I see what it looks like first?

Settings → Spectator view → Preview shows what a television would show.

Baseline Pro and purchases

What is free?

Unlimited games, every five-a-side rule preset, every clock, team fouls and the bonus, the training countdown, and the last three games in History. Everything you need to run a match is free.

What does Baseline Pro add?

  • Casting to a television
  • Player fouls, rosters and equal-play tracking
  • The game record PDF and shared summaries
  • FIBA 3x3
  • Interval drills, the shot-clock trainer and scrimmage
  • Multi-team training games
  • Custom shot-clock values, saved teams and custom team colours
  • Unlimited history and the full undo log

I paid but Baseline Pro is not showing

Go to Settings → Restore purchases, signed in to the App Store or Google Play account you bought with. Purchases belong to that store account.

I bought it on my phone. Is it on my tablet?

Yes, if both use the same store account and platform. Tap Restore purchases on the second device. A Google Play purchase does not carry over to an iPad, or the other way round.

Refunds and cancellations

The store handles subscriptions and refunds:

Your data

Where are my games kept?

Only on your device. There is no account and no server. The privacy policy has the detail.

My older games have disappeared from History

They are still there. Without Baseline Pro, History shows the three most recent games and says how many older ones are kept. They reappear when Baseline Pro is active.

How do I delete everything?

Uninstall the app, which removes its database. You cannot yet delete a single finished game. An unfinished game can be discarded from the home screen.

Is there a backup?

We don't run one. Your device's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include the app's data.

Known limitations

  • No player scoring statistics. With a roster, Baseline Pro tracks each player's fouls, and for equal play the quarters they were on, but not their points.
  • One game at a time. You cannot run two courts from one device.
  • English only.
  • No Chromecast. Casting needs a display connected by HDMI or AirPlay.
  • One game horn and one shot-clock horn. Other horn sounds and colour themes are not available yet.
